Every Rhai bag and shoe is handcrafted in small batches in Lagos, Nigeria by skilled local artisans. Genuine leather is paired with carefully selected indigenous textiles, including Aso Oke and hand-dyed Adire, with every stage of production—from the first cut to the final stitch—guided by quality, functionality, and enduring design.
Rhai takes a considered approach to materials and production, creating in small batches to minimise overproduction and reduce material waste. The brand uses locally sourced leather, including leather offcuts, alongside Aso Oke from Oyo State and indigo Adire made with Nigerian-grown Funtua cotton. Materials are selected for their quality, durability, and ability to age beautifully over time.
Production is rooted in Nigeria, with skilled independent artisans crafting each piece in Lagos. This approach helps preserve traditional craftsmanship while creating meaningful economic opportunities for local artisans, their families, and communities.
